Pothos N'Joy - Epipremnum aureum

Pothos are truly incredible plants! They grow so quickly, that it's no wonder they’re a favorite among many plant enthusiasts. I recently picked up this beauty from Unique Roots Inc. in Celina, Ohio. This  nursery always has such a great selection, and I couldn’t resist adding this plant to my collection!

How to Care for Pothos Joy: A Simple Guide for Thriving Plants

Pothos Joy is an eye-catching houseplant with its beautiful, variegated green and creamy white leaves. If you're lucky enough to have one, here’s how to keep it happy and healthy:

Light: Pothos Joy thrives in bright, indirect light. It can also tolerate low light, but its growth might slow down, and the variegation could fade. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

Watering: Like other pothos varieties, this plant prefers to dry out between waterings. Water it when the top inch or two of soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to overwater, as it can lead to root rot.

Temperature: Pothos Joy enjoys warm temperatures, ideally between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Keep it away from cold drafts or direct heat sources, as extreme temperatures can stress the plant.

Humidity: While it can adapt to average household humidity, this plant will thrive in higher humidity levels. Consider occasional misting or placing it in a more humid room, like a bathroom with proper lighting.

Soil: Well-draining potting soil is essential for a healthy pothos. A mix designed for houseplants or a blend with added perlite works great to ensure good drainage.

Fertilizing: Feed your pothos every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter when the plant’s growth slows down.

Pruning: To keep your Pothos Joy looking full and lush, trim back long vines every few months. You can propagate the cuttings in water to grow new plants!

Repotting: Pothos plants grow quickly, so repot them every 1-2 years or when their roots outgrow their current container. Always choose a pot that’s 1-2 inches larger than the current one to avoid overwatering.

With its easygoing nature, Pothos Joy is a perfect addition to your plant collection, and with the right care, it will keep flourishing and adding beauty to your space.
