Size

When choosing the right pot size for your plant, it’s important to consider the plant's size and growth habits. Generally, you'll want to pick a container that’s about 2-4 inches wider in diameter than the plant’s current root ball. This gives the roots space to grow without overwhelming the plant with too much extra soil, which can lead to root rot.

For smaller plants, a 6-8 inch pot is usually a good starting point, while larger plants will need a bigger container to accommodate their more extensive root systems. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from collecting at the bottom, which can cause root damage.

If you're unsure, it’s always better to go slightly larger than too small, but avoid pots that are too large, as they can lead to overwatering issues.

Happy planting!
